Support Local

Local businesses are the commercial and service backbone of our community. Family-based, sometimes multi-generational, and often home-based, local businesses and their owners maintain a commitment to our community that is truly worthy of our continuing support.  They need our patronage to thrive as independent entrepreneurs who will help create a healthy economy, and to help attract new entrepreneurs and skilled workers who will work and live in our community.

An advantage for business owner located here is that St. Margaret’s Bay has a strong local consumer base that seeks to support local businesses and services. It is no wonder that St. Margaret’s Bay is the fastest growing community in Atlantic Canada!

  • Rusty Bridge Project

  • Crossroads Garden

A project of the St. Margaret’s Bay Gardening Club, the Crossroads Garden is a collaborative effort of volunteers and neighbouring businesses. Included is an educational garden, where produce grown is donated to the SMB Food Bank.

  • Community Enterprise Centre

Why Support Local?

Local businesses are the commercial backbone of our rural communities. Family-based, sometimes generational, often home-based, local businesses owners maintain a commitment to our communities that is truly worthy of our continuing support: they need our patronage to thrive as independent entrepreneurs and help create a healthy rural economy.

A strong local consumer base helps to attract new entrepreneurs and skilled workers. Areas that support their local businesses and distinctive character are more successful in attracting new enterprises, thereby strengthening the rural economic base.
