Frequently Asked Questions
The Local Directory
The Local Directory provides residents and visitors of the St. Margaret’s Bay, Nova Scotia community with the most complete listing of service providers in the area. Any local business, not-for-profit and/or community organization that provides services, products, information or activities of interest to the residents of the St. Margaret’s Bay area, is welcome to submit a free listing.
- Display results by category by using the blue circle icons
- Narrow search results by using keyword search
- Click the blue “Reset Filters/ Show All Entries” button to remove any filters or key word searches applies to your listing results
- Switch between the ‘List View’ and ‘Maps View’ tabs to change how your results are listed
- Click on the provider name (in blue) to view the detailed listing
- When in the detailed view, select “Pop Out Printable PDF” for a printer friendly version of the listing
- If you use a pop up blocker, ensure it is disabled as you may not be able to view the detailed view
You must first create an account for the Discover St. Margaret’s Bay website. Once logged into your account, click on “Create a new Local Directory Entry” from your user profile, or follow this link to submit to the Local Directory.
Login to your Discover St. Margaret’s Bay website account. From your User Profile, you can manage all your listings including making edits and deleting.
If you do not have an account, you must first sign up for an account to the Discover St. Margaret’s Bay website in order to edit your listing. Your listing was added to the Local Directory from the previous data collected by the ‘Local Services Directory’ from The St. Margaret’s Bay Seniors Association, or is generally available to the public. Once your account is set up, email directory@discoverstmargaretsbay.com with the name of your listing, and we will link it to your account. Once your listing is linked to your Log in to your Community Account, and edit your listing from your User Profile page. Note that all submissions must first be approved by an administrator before they appear on the Local Directory.

If you do not want your information listed on the Local Directory and do not have an account, contact us at directory@discoverstmargaretsbay.com with the name of your listing. Your listing was added to the Local Directory from the previous data collected by the ‘Local Services Directory’ from The St. Margaret’s Bay Seniors Association, or is generally available to the public.
All basic listings to the Local Directory are free. A schedule of fees for featured listings and ads will be available in early 2020.
Service providers and groups who serve the St. Margaret’s Bay area may submit a listing to the Local Directory. Eg. From as far away as Bedford, Chester, Timberlea, Aspotogan, Sackville, Prospect Terrence Bay, etc. as long as you serve the St. Margaret’s Bay area. Note that listings can not include time sensitive promotions.
Businesses can post the same service or product in only one category, however if a business has 2-3 distinctly different products or services they can post each one. Example if you provide bookkeeping and music lessons, you can submit both as as 2 seperate entries.
The Community Calendar
The Community Calendar provides residents and visitors of the St. Margaret’s Bay, Nova Scotia community with the most complete listing of events in the area. Any local business, not-for-profit and/or community organization with an upcoming event, activity, workshop or meeting is welcome to submit a free listing.
- Display results by category by using the green square icons
- Narrow search results by using keyword search or filtering by organizer type and/or cost
- Click the blue “Reset Filters/ Show All Entries” button to remove any filters or key word searches applies to your listing results
- Switch between the ‘List View’ and ‘Calendar View’ tabs to change how your results are listed
- Click on the event name (in blue) to view the detailed listing
- When in the detailed view, select “+ Add to my Calendar” to add the event to a personal calendar

The Bulletin Board
The Bulletin Board provides residents of the St. Margaret’s Bay, Nova Scotia community an outlet to network and announce various opportunities and projects. Any local business, not-for-profit and/or community organization is welcome to submit a post regarding information on employment or volunteer opportunities, networking, fundraising requests or to announce special projects, initiatives and other topics of interest to the community.
- Switch between the tabs to view posts in different topic categories
- Narrow results by searching by keyword, author or date
- Switch between the ‘List View’ and ‘Calendar View’ tabs to change how your results are listed
- Filter the number of posts shown on the page by using the ‘Show Posts’ drop down menu
