Explore the Bay

A picturesque region that begins a short 15-minute drive outside Halifax along the south shore of Nova Scotia, St. Margaret’s Bay is a thriving community. Its unique blend of new and established residents, along with a healthy dose of Maritime hospitality, ensures that everyone feels welcome. We also boast a wide range of well-known yearly events, ranging from athletic to arts and culture to seasonal festivities.

St. Margaret’s Bay is home to the village of Peggy’s Cove, one of one of Canada’s most iconic tourist attractions: the Peggy’s Point lighthouse is said to be the most photographed lighthouse in the world. Other regional highlights include the ruggedly beautiful Peggy’s Cove Preservation Area; the SS Atlantic Heritage Park in Terence Bay, with its charming seaside boardwalk; and the impressive Hooked Rug Museum of North America in Queensland.

  • Peggy’s Cove Festival of the Arts

This coastal festival is an early summer celebration of the arts and the wealth of artistic talent in St.Margaret’s Bay.

  • Hubbards Grand Street Parade

Find your spot on Main Street – this is a parade you won’t want to miss with entertainment for all ages!

  • The Bay Wind Regatta

Whether on the water or shore-side, the Bay Wind Regatta hosted by The St. Margaret Sailing Club is a sight to see!

Rails to Trails

32.5 kilometres of scenic, multi-use trail running from Hubley to Hubbards for resident and visitor use. It forms part of the South Shore 109 km Rum Runners’ Trail and connects not only to the Beechville, Lakeside, Timberlea (BLT) Trail and Hubbards’ Aspotogan Trail but the Chester Connector Trail too.
